Things To Do Around Ada, OH According To the Inn at ONU

As I am sure many of my loyal readers and fanbase know, there is a beautiful Inn at Ohio Northern University. Strangely beautiful, it offers those traveling (oftentimes the relatives and guests of the students at Northern) a place to reside for the night. Featured on the Inn's website is a helpful list of the *fun* "things to do in Ohio" around Ada! Here I will be highlighting the top favorites of the list.

  1.  The Wilson Football Factory: Even weirder than Ada supporting an entire liberal arts college is the fact that Ada supports the Wilson Football factory—where footballs used in the Super Bowl pop into existence. Tours can be scheduled in advance.
  2. The Oak and Barn Gift Store: A gift store that has close to absolutely no trace of it's business online, the Oak and Barn gift store is an "elegant gift shop with a beautiful selection of holiday gifts, cards, treats and more." Judging from the Inn's page, which is by far the easiest way to access the hours and information of the Oak and Barn Gift Store, the shop is multileveled, which each floor having a different theme.
  3. Pierstorf Family Pharmacy Museum: This one won't require much travel besides a 10 minute walk across campus to the Raabe College of Pharmacy where you can discover all sorts of pharmaceutical relics of the past. Like the football factory, specific tours can be scheduled in advance.
  4. The HS Lehr Statue: This tick on the list marks Ohio Northern's magnificient statues cross campus, the foremost of which is the Henry Solomon Lehr statue. It also mentions the twelve surrounding cast bronze reproduction statues. However, the Inn neglects to mention our newest statue addition of Martin Luther King Jr.

  1. Now that you mention it, it is a bit strange that a tiny village in northwest Ohio is home to a private liberal arts university and the factory where NFL footballs are made. My grandparents came to visit a few weeks ago, and we hit most of the spots on this list except Oak and Barn, which I don't believe exists anymore. The Inn's website could probably use a refresh!
