Fall Break 2019
UGH-Adam Koncsol, approximately 10:00 p.m. on October 15, 2019, while driving back toward Ohio Northern University.
Just recently, Ohio Northern gave its students a much needed break, which included a full two days of no classes. While this may seem like absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, for someone who is currently drowning in the course load of his junior year of college, fall break was a beautiful respite. While I should have been writing multiple papers, blogs and other assignments, I might as well have completely sawed the top half of my skull off and plopped my brain in a jar with two fizzy Alka-Seltzer because I got absolutely nothing done at all. In fact, I spent more than an hour hanging out with the wonderful people at the Mercy Health urgent care in Niles, Ohio. With a quick diagnosis of reactive airway disease—something like asthma, sometimes, I'm not exactly sure—I was on my way with three or four prescriptions to fill.
I mean, other than that, I did some typical fall activities, such as a corn maze and finding a super cool heirloom pumpkin which did a total 180° within the confines of the pumpkin. While all heirloom pumpkins look absolutely wild, they were priced the same as normal pumpkins—37 cents a pound (I know—who sells pumpkins by weight?).
Lastly, without a single doubt, the worst part of fall break was driving back to campus. For those of you unaware, I drive around three to four hours back to campus (the epitome of ick). However, this was the first time I had to literally stop at a rest stop and take a quick nap for twenty minutes or completely risk driving into either another car, a tree or the ditch. We are certainly out here—living life to the fullest and almost falling asleep at the wheel.
