I Found a Bunch of New Songs
As we are all well aware, this blog has strict requirements to write about something happening in my OWN personal life, and while some of may be events or other such happenings, some weeks will feature more homegrown life content, such as this week's installment.
This is perhaps one of my favorite artists to ever exist. What they do on the guitar can be described only as an experience, not to mention looping pedals, guitar presets, and other such equipment. An Australian singer/songwriter, they are often described as a "one-person band" with their control over all aspects of the instrumentation. They began playing guitar when they were three, and since then have learned bass, keys, trumpet and beatboxing, to name a few. Her debut album "Flow State" came out within the last month and is a treasure.
Music. We all love it and it is hardwired into the brain. It is ubiquitous among cultures and is a staple of the human experience. Vox's Netflix show "Explained," has a wonderful mini doc on the topic, as well as others exploring the racial wealth gap, cricket, weed, and of course, the female orgasm. I am not one that would identify as a viewer of an absurd amount of Netflix—that being said, Vox's "Explained," is perhaps one of the most well edited, polished works that is being broadcasted perhaps anywhere.
Moving past the sidetracked distraction of "Explained,", I am using this blog to highlight some of the music I have found recently because I genuinely enjoy doing so.
Khruangbin:
Before this is judged because the guitarists both have bangs or because there is no idea how to begin to pronounce this band's name, please just listen. This is absolutely amazing to me and I groove hardcore. As a bit of background, this is an American trio formed in Houston and takes extremely strong influence from Thai rock and funk, with many other influences including dub, surf rock, and Iranian pop. Their name in Thai translates to airplane (literally engine fly).

This is a cool article idea! I am slowly running out of ideas and this is giving me a little bit of hope about topics I have been considering. I think its very hard to branch out of the music we already know. I personally get in the feels when I hear new music and I get so tired when there's too much new. Its draining! But these are cool suggestions.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest, Music is my life, along side food and socializing. I am so glad you wrote this blog and shared the music because I am always up to hear and learn new music ideas. One suggestions if you haven't listened to him yet is "Joji", very chill and mellow musician.
