Banksy's Shredder
What you just watched was posted by the (in)famous street artist Banksy on his YouTube account BanksyFilm. Oftentimes on the run from authority sources all of the world, he made a name for himself by the seemingly impossible, both in detail and placement, art he'd do. Many would call it street art, many would call it graffiti, and many would call it vandalism, and many others in the same right would call it illegal.
Perhaps those frustrated most with Banksy are perhaps one in the same—an authority. Both those his social commentary is directed at as well as those tasked with catching him. Ever elusive, it seems as though he is able to remain one of today's biggest anonymous artists. For an in depth look at the European artist, a short film titled "Exit Through the Gift Shop" chronicles a Frenchman's interaction with the street artist.
In his newest stunt, as evidenced in the video above, he instantly shredded a painting, which he did not want to be sold, that was sold at auction for $1.4 million. However, I honestly believe that in some ironic twist, it will result in this not so much of a painting but a concept will be sold for an even higher price—only catapulting Banksy into the mainstream even more as well as his work.
