YouTube is Cool
How many of us would consider YouTube a classic social media platform? I know that I wouldn't compare it to anything like Facebook or Twitter but perhaps something closer to Instagram, where the picture (or video in this case) is the heart of the post. YouTube, much like Twitter, in my opinion, is full of noise, clutter and a possible lack of respect for others. Uploading videos, particularly videos that are well filmed and well edited and that reach the interests of viewers, is the goal on YouTube. It seems that commonly, websites and other such media outlets may upload their content on YouTube to embed in blog and social media posts. As McDonald puts it, these are examples of supportive use of video. YouTube is simply hosting these videos for external sites.
The secret goop to the sharing of videos is rooted in emotions. Videos that make people happy, heartbroken or upset are videos that get attention and are videos that will be retweeted and shared across different platforms.
YouTube is also important for how to videos, where a brand can promote themselves to be that top of mind brand. To assist this, optimization of the video for search engine optimization is key. These keywords should be present in the title of your video as well as the description. As well as written SEO, making sure to specifically say certain keywords, as YouTube listens and creates a transcript of spoken word in video.
I love YouTube more than anyone I feel. Even though most of the time I am watching stupid videos like Meme Compilations or gamers like KYRSpeedy and PewDiePie. I think just like you with that I never really look at YouTube like a social media platform, just a way to see videos that people post. YouTube is such a weird thing, but it is a great thing in my mind.
ReplyDeleteYouTube is an addiction for me. I'm always watching videos covering several topics but mostly sports. I use it to watch tennis highlights multiple times per day. I love YouTube because I am able to pick out what I want to watch whereas I cannot do that on regular television. I feel YouTube is a fantastic way to express yourself whether it is posting reactions videos or just simply posting your opinions about different things going on in the world. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteI think having media that is so easy to access and consume is fantastic. There are a lot of really bright minds on YouTube who do extensive research into topics, but there are also a lot of silly videos too. It's a good balance of different kinds of content. I personally use the site every day.
