Twitter?? Social Media Marketing FUN
Moving forward on our journey of social media, marketing, and social media marketing, we've reached a channel that seems to be a subject of popular culture the absolute most. This, I think, is a response to many icons of pop culture are plugged into the site directly, many of which tweeting directly from their own phones. A big reason for that?
TWITTER IS OPEN
Taken directly in the big bold alarm that is presented in the book, I think this is a strength to the platforms that are more open than closed. I think this is also why many brands, especially those popping up over and over, find such great success with Twitter. It's as though Twitter is a huge parade marching through a city, with whoever is heading the account is the leader, with just a mass of followers trailing behind. Whoever wants to join the ragtag procession may and everything the Tweet-er says might as well be shouted through not just a microphone, but also through a megaphone.
Past that, I think the biggest tip McDonald gives us on marketing in the Twittersphere is found on page 180.
TWEET TO JOURNALISTS, BLOGGERS, AND INFLUENCERS
To be entirely honest, this is something that I have never considered and probably wouldn't have on my own. The logic makes complete sense, rather than try to become an influencer as a brand, why not intercept and interrupt the flow by giving to those that give to the masses. Realistically, the worst thing that could happen is to make a terrible impression on these people and then have articles, blogs and other nonsense crowding up your SEO. However, that being said, I think that the pros most definitively outweigh the cons.
